2 Bedford 6

Glorious sunshine set the scene for a tough game against top-of-the-table Bedford. Their experienced players brought the hockey heads, while we brought the junior legs — with our dependable 5s players and Zoe helping us build a strong defence!

Bedford were quick off the mark, but we held firm. End-to-end play and short corners at both ends kept everyone busy, with Jax saving a goal on the line — with her stick this week!We reached half-time all square at 0–0.

Despite some valiant defending from Haidee, Helen and Sue, Bedford slipped in a goal in the second half. A penalty flick followed, which they converted to make it 2–0.

We kept battling, getting on the end of Helen’s strong hits into the corners and earning a few more short corners. One final, last-ditch corner gave us hope, but we couldn’t quite convert.

A 2–0 defeat against the league leaders, but a strong performance with plenty of effort and determination throughout. Huge thanks to our 5s players and Zoe for their support!

Player of the Match went to birthday girl Haidee — a well-earned award to go with the birthday celebrations! 🎂
